Every Monday night, the Arizona Emergency Net – Maricopa meets on 2 meters FM for training and exercise in the public service communication arts. We focus on preparation and readiness for public service – be it scheduled events like bike races or drills, or emergencies such as storm damage or terrorist attacks. Someone has to be ready. This net is dedicated to addressing that challenge. The Arizona Emergency Net – Maricopa also activates during threats or emergencies affecting Maricopa County

9-24-2012 - Public Service Event Simulation - AK7RB

This is a brand new topic!  With recent licensing surges, we have lots of new hams who are interested in public service events, but not familiar with how events work.  So, we will simulate a bicycle event during the net.  Jump in and volunteer for an assignment!  We’ll handle event-like traffic so you can hear what to expect during the real thing.  New folks, especially, make your mistakes here, learn from them, and learn how fun events can be!  For the more experienced hams, participate, too, to demonstrate how to handle this kind of radio traffic smoothly.
