Every Monday night, the Arizona Emergency Net – Maricopa meets on 2 meters FM for training and exercise in the public service communication arts. We focus on preparation and readiness for public service – be it scheduled events like bike races or drills, or emergencies such as storm damage or terrorist attacks. Someone has to be ready. This net is dedicated to addressing that challenge. The Arizona Emergency Net – Maricopa also activates during threats or emergencies affecting Maricopa County

7-16-2012 - Role of EOC's - KB7YEB

Emergency Operations Centers (EOC's) or hospital Command Centers (CC's) are two disaster functions that aren't exercised during public service events.  These centers only activate for official drills or The Real Thing when the spam hits the fan.  We need to grasp what it means when an EOC or CC activates, comes up on the Amateur frequencies, and has radio traffic for us to deal with.
This is an opportunity for Amateurs from the Valley's EOCs / CCs to represent their EOC.  Come learn what these groups' purposes are, what Amateur capabilities they employ to accomplish their jobs, and what support they need from Amateurs like you and me.
